Best Kids’ Activities in Baltimore

There’s a reason Baltimore is called “the Charm City,” especially when it comes to finding fun activities for the whole family! As parents, we are always searching for exciting weekend excursions to keep our little ones busy. The team at Hudler Homes has compiled a list of the top kids’ activities in Baltimore, so you can get out and explore all the amazing family fun this city has to offer. Keep reading below!

Maryland Science Center

Conveniently located in the Baltimore Inner Harbor, the Maryland Science Center is fun for the whole family! Explore their three floors of interactive science displays and exhibits, an IMAX theater, a planetarium and an observatory. The Maryland Science Center is both a great time and an education experience for your little ones! Some of our favorite exhibits are the Dinosaur Mysteries exhibit and the Blue Crab. Your kids will walk away with a love and deeper appreciation for nature and science after exploring this fun facility.

Port Discovery Children’s Museum

Ranked among the top five children’s museums in the country, you won’t want to miss a visit to the Port Discovery Children’s Museum. Funny enough, it’s actually located in a historic fish market building near the Inner Harbor. We love this museum because touching and interacting with the exhibit is actually encouraged at Port City Children’s Museum. Keep your little ones busy with interactive exhibits like an ancient Egyptian-themed playground and a kid-friendly rope climbing area.

Maryland Zoo

The Baltimore Zoo is the third oldest zoo in the country! Leave plenty of time to explore all the 135-acre zoo has to offer, like showcasing lions, tigers, giraffes and even polar bears. The zoo allows visitors opportunities to interact with some of the animals, like petting the goats and taking selfies. Visiting the zoo is a great activity for the whole family.

Baltimore Aquarium

We couldn’t compile this list without including the Baltimore Aquarium, which is considered the largest tourist attraction in Maryland and one of the largest aquariums in the country! The aquarium boasts over 17,000 specimens and 750 species. You can get up close to incredible creatures from Australia to the Amazon River Forest. Little ones can even enjoy petting different creatures like a horseshoe crab and a stingray!

iFly Baltimore

If your family is looking for an out-of-the-box adventure, then you have to try iFly Baltimore! This indoor skydiving facility allows visitors to hover and experience what it feels like to fly. There’s also fun excursions like a virtual reality section, where you can fly over some of the world’s most exotic locations.

B&O Railroad Museum

If your little one loves trains, then you must take them to the B&O Railroad Museum. B&O is the first museum to showcase the history of America’s railroads, including old trains on display. There is plenty to do, including an old-fashioned train ride along, a carousel, a Kid’s Zone and a toddler play area.

With no shortage of fun kids activities, it’s no wonder that families love to make Baltimore their home!
