Favorite Fall Spots in Maryland

Fall is such a magical time of year, especially in our beautiful state of Maryland! From stunning fall foliage to cozy weekend getaways, there’s no shortage of exciting activities to keep you busy in the Fall. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite ways to spend Fall in Maryland below!

Sugarloaf Mountain

Sugarloaf Mountain is a beautiful mountain peak in Dickerson, Maryland, about one-hour from Baltimore. In addition to the scenic mountain view, Sugarloaf Mountain also has a 7-mile loop trail that’s perfect for hiking, running or just enjoying nature. Dogs are also welcome to visit if they are kept on a leash.

Annapolis

There’s no shortage of fun for a Fall day when it’s spent in Annapolis, about a 35-minute drive from Baltimore. With so much history packed into one town, there’s plenty of places to explore outdoors and take in the brisk Fall air. Ghost stories and historic walks are two of our favorite activities. There’s also historic sites like the Maryland State House and U.S. Naval Academy.

Gunpowder Falls State Park

Gunpowder Falls State Park is one of Maryland’s largest state parks, encompassing over 18,000 acres in Baltimore County. There’s a vast array of different territories throughout the Park, including wetlands, trails, slopes and even areas for tubing. Some of the best activities to enjoy during the fall are fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge

If you’re a nature lover, the perfect place to explore in the Fall is Easter Neck Wildlife Refuge. This 2,285 acre island is a habitat for thousands of wintering waterfowl. Visitors can see over 240 bird species along with other small mammals and wildlife species. There are also seven different trails, a hunting lodge, a gift shop and more. The expansive views of the Chester River and Chesapeake Bay make this spot worth the trip in itself.

Fresh McKenzie Farm

Fall is a great time to visit a farm and experience fun activities like pumpkin picking and hayrides. Fresh McKenzie Farm in Baldwin, Maryland is an excellent option! The Farm is about 30 minutes outside of Baltimore and packed with fun activities for a Fall date or a big day out with the family. The Farm includes a corn maze, hay ride, kid’s activity area and more.

Chestertown

This historic tree-lined college town is about an hour and a half outside of Baltimore. Along the banks of the Eastern shore, Chestertown features adorable shops, restaurants and an inn to explore on a beautiful autumn day. There’s no shortage of historic places and stunning views when exploring the quaint city.
