Relocating to Baltimore

Baltimore is an incredible place to call home. With an abundance of unique attractions, a rich and diverse culture, and an amazing culinary scene, there is no shortage of fun things to do in the “Charm City.” Are you considering relocating to Baltimore in the near future? The experts at Hudler Homes have compiled a helpful list of considerations to keep in mind before your big move. Keep reading to learn more about all the amazing features Baltimore has to offer!

Low Cost of Living

Baltimore has a lower cost of living than the entire state of Maryland, as well as the national average. You may not know that Baltimore city is a politically independent city, meaning it’s not affiliated with the surrounding Baltimore county. That means Baltimore has its own school system, courts system, and police department. Because the cost of living is lower than in other parts of the state, it’s a great place to call home and get the most bang for your buck.

Proximity to Other Cities

We love that Baltimore is just a short drive away from some of the most exciting metropolitan areas in the country! Baltimore is a little under an hour away from Washington, D.C., so if you’re a history buff, it’s easy to hop in the car and spend the day exploring our nation’s capital. If you love the big apple, New York City is an easy three-hour car ride from Baltimore. Get your city-fix in just a few hours!

Robust Job Market

Baltimore is home to a robust job market, especially in the automotive, shipping, and steel processing industries. Baltimore even has a burgeoning tech start-up scene! With Baltimore’s close proximity to Washington, D.C., you’ll also find that government and defense contracting positions are widespread.

Ease of Transportation

Baltimore is a very drivable city that is not too difficult to navigate. If you prefer not to drive a vehicle, there are several free or affordable transportation options available. The Charm City Circulator is a free shuttle available in the business district, extending through several neighborhoods. There is also a very popular Amtrak station as an option.

Fun Nightlife

Baltimore is home to a vibrant nightlife scene. We love strolling through Fells Point at nighttime and enjoying all the fun restaurants and bars the area has to offer. Just down the road from Fells, you’ll find Canton Square, one convenient area for a couple blocks of restaurants and bars, and some will offer live music. Station North is another favorite destination to enjoy, especially with its thriving arts scene.

Maryland is certainly an exciting place to live, especially in Baltimore. We love helping our clients find new places to discover as you make Baltimore your home!
